Materials Needed:
A clear plastic bottle with a secure lid (e.g., water bottle or sensory bottle)
Warm water
Clear glue or glitter glue
Glitter (various colors)
Food coloring (optional)
Superglue or hot glue gun (to seal the lid)
Steps:
1. Fill the Bottle with Water and Glue:
Fill the bottle about 3/4 full with warm water.
Add a bottle of clear glue or glitter glue to the water. If you’re using clear glue, you’ll need about 1/4 cup. If you’re using glitter glue, use an entire small bottle.
2. Add Glitter
Pour in the glitter.
You can use a combination of fine and chunky glitter for different effects.
Start with about 1-2 tablespoons, and add more if desired.
3. Add Food Coloring (Optional):
If you want to add color to the water, add a few drops of food coloring.
Mix well to ensure even color distribution.
4. Seal the Bottle:
Top off the bottle with more warm water, leaving a little space at the top.
Secure the lid tightly. To prevent leaks, seal the lid with superglue or use a hot glue gun around the rim before screwing it on.
5. Shake and Enjoy:
Shake the bottle vigorously to mix all the ingredients.
Watch as the glitter swirls and settles, creating a calming effect.
Tips for Success:
Adjust the amount of glue to change the settling time of the glitter. More glue will make the glitter settle slower, creating a longer calming effect.
Make sure the lid is tightly sealed to prevent leaks, especially if the bottle will be handled by young children.
Test the bottle before sealing the lid permanently to ensure you’re happy with the effect and settling time.
Usage:
When your child needs to calm down, have them shake the bottle and watch the glitter settle. The swirling motion can help them focus and relax.
